New Life For Old Furniture
While visiting one of my absolute favorite Blog sites (The Nesting Place); I discovered that the Nester and I had shared the same dilema. A boring old rustic Pine armoire that was throwing off the decor in our home. I love her color palette and style. Thank you so much Nester for posting the tutorial on painting pine furniture! Although the color did not turn out as rich as I had thought it would. It does give the house a beachy/coastal/french feeling that I am going for. The inside still needs paint as you can see. It needs a touch of wood filler and new hardware but you get the idea already of what a gem it will be eventually. Just one of the many projects going on in the G house this Spring!
Curb shopping has become my favorite new hobby. Over are the days of paying for over priced particle board at Target. Last week we found an amazing steal on Craigslist that got me thinking about all of the awesome furniture that gets tossed for various reasons. We got a gorgeous and huge 6 chair dining set made of solid wood for only $175! Days later I was in the focus with the Bean curb shopping. I was determined to find something that I could use for the house.
I came across this beautiful piece (albeit needs work) that was sitting helplessly along side of the road. She (I was call her Sophia) looked so lonely and discarded there. The problem was I have a focus. Where would Sophia fit? Would I strap her to roof? Strap Bryte to the roof? Nah. To the rescue comes my Father in Law. He was thrilled with the idea! No, really! I happily helped Sophia into the back of his van and then home to our garage where I began sanding that night. Stay Tuned for Sophia's transformation!
